NEPHEW TOMMY GOLF TOURNAMENT WITH TROY MULLINS
My golf buddy Allen Hollimon from Nationwide Investigations and Security was friends with Thomas Miles, better known as TV/radio personality Nephew Tommy. He was in Houston to do a golf tournament at Blackhorse Golf Course, and since he and Allen were friends from college days at Texas A&M, we had an in road to go enjoy all the fun and festivities for the weekend.
Nephew Tommy kicked it off with a nice afternoon party in River Oaks, a swanky, upscale part of central Houston. There, we met Troy Mullins, the world champion long driver, who is known just as much for her good looks as she is her golf driving ability.
I had previously worked on a project for Troy Mullins with apparel brand from the UK that was looking to make an entry into the Chinese market. Since Mullins is a Mandarin Chinese speaker, I've always seen opportunities we could capitalize on in China.
Mullins and her manager Silas were cool, and I threw a few vague ideas out, nothing that would need an NCNDA! I told Allen we needed to look into having Nationwide sponsor her, and he came prepared with some Nationwide logo golf balls made by TaylorMade, one of Mullin's sponsors.

The next day, I pulled up to the golf course, and as I was backing the truck in, I saw Troy over on the range practicing. She was warming up to teach a short 20 minute clinic to all of the players in the tournament. We exchanged a quick head nod, and I let her do her thing to get ready.
While waiting, NBA legend Clyde Drexler walked up on me while i was getting clubs out of the trunk. He was saying how much he liked the truck I was in that day, and we went on and talked about luxury SUV's for a few minutes. I had worked with Clyde on a project back in 2011 during the NBA lock-out, and I see him around quite a bit so we have a good rapport.
We are both looking forward to being able to travel back to China so we can do some golf events there.
Then, Troy did her driving exhibition for the on lookers. She hit some bombs. It is amazing to watch in person, and then she does it with such mild mannered grace. Nephew Tommy came over, cracked a few jokes, and gave all the props to Troy.
Mullins was a true professional as she stayed to sign every autograph and took every photo requested. In addition to sharing her golf knowledge and putting her talent on display, she made sure everyone had a great fan experience at the event.
