TEEING IT UP WITH SCARFACE
I thought my mind was playing tricks on me one day I was at Hermann park golf course in Houston, Texas getting ready to warm up on the range. I looked down and I thought it was the rapper Scarface from the Geto Boys, but I was thinking "nah, Scarface doesn't golf"
I glanced again, this time more intently, and saw that it was indeed one of the greatest rappers of all time right there working on his iron game. "Brad!", I shouted over, loud enough for him to hear, but not loud enough to make others look. He looked up and nodded, recognizing his real name of Brad Jordan. I walked over and gave him a fist pound and started talking a bit.
Scarface grew up in the same neighborhood of the southside of Houston that I did. I first met him when I was 16 years old. He would come up to Cloverland Park sometimes while we would be there playing basketball. He always pulled up in a Porsche or Ferrari, and just usually came over to the court, interrupted our games, and just wanted to shoot a few random jumpshots for a few minutes. We'd just let him scratch his itch, pass him the ball a few times until he saw the ball go in enough times to be happy.

Now, we both have a new game we love, so we exchanged numbers and set up to play. As LUCK would have it, we hooked up on St. Patrick's day to play a round together right back at Hermann.
Scarface has a nice game. He was fortunate enough to have a custom fitting session at Callaway golf. so he has the coolest golf clubs with his name and musical notes on them. They certainly help him to be exact with his swing. He is a very patient, deliberate player, and it is easily to see his attention to detail in how he reads the greens and putts.
The St Patricks day round was a lot of fun. We just talked about golf and a few people we both know from the old neighborhood. No talks about music, concerts, or anything like that. That's one thing that I've learned playing golf with high profile people.. if you leave them alone and just let them swing the club, everything will be cool.
If you guys are not familiar with Scarface, a suggest a quick search on rap music. Lately, he has been challenged with some health issues. I hope he can have a full recovery and get back out on the course soon.
